Baking Soda on the job

We all could use a friend like baking soda. It has proven to be a loyal friend. The Egyptians used it as a soap and on we go into the history for baking purposes as a leavening agent. Through the years, we have learned an open box of baking soda placed in the refrigerator reduces odors. Replacing it monthly helps the stream of freshness.

We have learned also that numerous people use baking soda as a toothpaste. It works just as well as a favorite toothpaste and these people swear by it and may try a toothpaste brand, but go back to the baking soda with loyalty.

Do you have an auto mechanic in your house? The drudgery of washing greasy, oily clothes ends. Add some baking soda with the laundry detergent and it helps erase stains and the awful smell of grease. You may get in the habit of adding this to all your laundry loads as it helps to freshen your clothes, greasy, scummy, plain old dirt, or otherwise.

As well as getting greasy clothes clean, it works well with grease spots on your driveway or garage floor. Rinse it off well with a scrubbing brush and hot water. An open box in the garage will drive away oil odors, leaving the garage to smell a bit nicer.

People have their favorites, but sprinkling baking soda on the carpet and left for a few minutes before vacuuming will leave it fresh smelling. If you plan to be gone from your home for a few days, the carpet will still have a great smell to it when you come back home. Another use is to run your dishwasher with a touch of baking soda before or after you return home and it won't have that musty smell of staying closed. This may be another habit you get into of adding a sprinkle or so whenever you do run your dishwasher.
